- Identithing is a tool to help you document your belongings — not a licensed appraiser. AI-generated values are estimates only.
- You own your data. You can export it and take it with you whenever you want.
- Cancel any time. You keep access through the end of your paid period and keep any exports you've already made.
- We are not liable for insurance claims, coverage gaps, or financial decisions made based on our valuations.
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an Identithing account or using the Identithing service (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Mike Ferrari ("Identithing," "we," "us," or "our"). You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement.
2. What Identithing does
Identithing is an AI-powered home inventory management service. You upload photos of your belongings, and our AI pipeline identifies items, assigns them to room and location categories, and estimates replacement values. The result is a structured inventory you can export, share with an insurance agent, or keep for your records.
The Service is provided via a web application at app.identithing.com. No native app download is required.
3. AI valuations — important disclaimer
Identithing is not a licensed appraiser. Value estimates generated by our AI are automated estimates based on publicly available market data and are provided for informational and insurance-documentation purposes only. They do not constitute a professional appraisal, a guarantee of replacement cost, or a representation of actual market value.
AI-generated values may be inaccurate, outdated, or unavailable for certain items. Many factors affect the true replacement cost of an item — including condition, brand tier, regional pricing, and market fluctuations — that our AI may not fully account for.
You should not rely solely on Identithing valuations to:
- Set insurance coverage limits
- File or negotiate an insurance claim
- Make purchasing, financial, or legal decisions
- Establish the value of items for resale, donation, or taxation
For high-value items (jewelry, artwork, collectibles, antiques, musical instruments), we strongly recommend obtaining an independent professional appraisal. Identithing is a starting point for documentation, not a substitute for professional valuation.
We are not liable for any losses, denied claims, underinsurance, or financial harm arising from reliance on AI-generated valuations.
4. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
You may not share your account with other people. Business plan subscribers may add up to five named team members and may also grant cross-tenant access to additional users (such as accountants, insurance agents, or property managers) via location-scoped grants; each team member or grantee must have their own login credentials.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts with false or misleading information.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use Identithing only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Upload content that you do not have the right to upload (e.g., others' private property without permission)
- Use the Service to document property that you do not own or control
- Attempt to circumvent the Service's access controls, usage limits, or account isolation
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the Service's AI pipeline, API, or infrastructure
- Use the Service to commit fraud, including inflating insurance claims
- Upload illegal content, malware, or content that violates the rights of third parties
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without refund, at our sole discretion.
6. Your content and data
You retain full ownership of the photos, videos, and inventory data you upload to Identithing ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
We do not claim any ownership of Your Content. We do not use Your Content to train AI models. We do not share Your Content with any third party except as required to operate the Service (see our Privacy Policy).
You are responsible for ensuring that Your Content does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights.
7. Subscription and billing
Plans
Identithing offers a free tier (10 items, no credit card required) and paid plans: Starter ($3.99/mo or $39.99/yr, 500 items), Pro ($9.99/mo or $99.99/yr, 3,000 items with claim-ready PDF export), and Business ($49.99/mo founding price (list $79.99/mo) or $499.99/yr, 3,000 items, 10 locations, 5 team seats, cross-tenant sharing). Plan details and item limits are described at identithing.com/#pricing. Prices are in USD and exclude taxes where applicable.
Billing cycle
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually, at the price shown at the time of purchase. Annual billing is calculated at the equivalent monthly rate with an approximately 17% discount. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel.
Free tier
The free tier allows you to catalog up to 10 items with no credit card required. There is no time limit on the free tier — you can stay on it indefinitely. To go beyond 10 items, you must upgrade to a paid plan.
Price changes
We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will provide at least 30 days' written notice before any price increase takes effect on an active subscription. If you disagree with a price change, you may cancel before it takes effect.
Taxes
You are responsible for any applicable sales taxes, VAT, or other taxes on your subscription. Where required by law, we may collect and remit taxes on your behalf.
8. Cancellation policy
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal in the app (Settings → Billing) or by contacting us at [email protected].
When you cancel:
- Your access continues until the end of your current paid billing period.
- You are not charged for the next period.
- You retain access to export your data at any time during your paid period.
- Any exports you have already downloaded belong to you and remain in your possession.
We do not offer prorated refunds for mid-period cancellations on monthly plans. For annual plans, refund requests made within 14 days of the annual renewal date will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis — contact us and we will work with you.
If your account is terminated by us for a violation of these Terms, no refund will be issued.
9. Intellectual property
The Identithing service, including its design, code, AI models, and documentation, is owned by Identithing and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service.
The Identithing name and logo are trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written consent.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI outputs will be accurate.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including denied insurance claims, underinsurance, data loss, or reliance on AI-generated valuations.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Identithing in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Identithing, its owner, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) Your Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any third-party rights.
12. Third-party services
The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party services (e.g., Stripe for billing). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms.
13. Termination
Either party may terminate the relationship at any time. You may delete your account directly in-app via Account Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. We will retain your data for up to 30 days after termination (to allow you to export it), after which it will be permanently deleted. We will not retain or use your data after deletion.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at [email protected] to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will respond within 10 business days.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to your registered address at least 14 days before taking effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with any changes, your remedy is to cancel your subscription and stop using the Service before the changes take effect.
